!*FIRSTNAME*!
Welcome to the TrainerBase update
number 240.
So the summer as it was is all but over and the training and
development community is getting back to business. Whilst things have
been quite, TrainerBase has been active and we are working towards being recognised as the voice for
independent learning practitioners.
TrainerBase is engaging with various other organisations within the
learning and development sector to raise awareness of our membership and
to contribute to discussion and dialogue that affects our members.
If
you have any thoughts, ideas or opportunities which would help us grow
as an Association, please do let us know.
Onwards and upwards.
Peter
Chief Executive

The format and concept of featured trainer slot is being changed.
We are going to use this to show case Certified Learning
Practitioners. The expectations is that CLPs will be interviewed and
a short profile written and this displayed on the site. This will be
a free facility and champion the accreditation and its benefits.

The following opportunity has been posted on the site in the past
week or so:
I am please to report that a small number of opportunities posted in
the past couple of months have been from 'direct' purchasers,
supplementing those that are looking for 'associate' trainers.
Please do be aware that some opportunities are posted and then
removed before they appear in the weekly update. It is advisable to
check the site periodically as I do not always send out alerts. If you know of a friend who would be interested in any of the
opportunities posted on the site, please feel free to forward them this
email (not give them details of the opportunities) and ask them to use
this referral code when joining the site: - TB21!*USERID*!07. You will
be rewarded for referring the friend.
When considering applying for an opportunity, members should check
the requirements including; Subject, Sector Skills and Level Experience.
If you do not match the requirement you should not apply for the
opportunity, this practice is becoming very unpopular amongst purchasers
and other trainers.
If you are interested in using this facility as a way of sourcing
independent contractors but are not sure about the best way to approach
it, please feel free to email
tenders@trainerbase.co.uk.
Notice:
Opportunities are restricted information for subscribers only and
must not be distributed to non paying members or associate groups.

Do spread the word.
And if you want me to attend to talk about the
Association or Certified Learning Practitioner,
please let me know.

Few members seem to be using the 'Who's where when' diary facility.
Has this lost its appeal?

The Market Place provides an opportunity for Subscribed Members to
shout about their products and services. The facility is free to use
(well it cost 25 points). And as well as human visitors to the site
seeing what you have to offer, the page is indexed by search engines and
can increase your visibility on the Internet.

The season is upon us when TrainerBase will be conducting a number of
Trainer related surveys. These include:
- We are conducting a survey into the state of the sector. How may
trainers are there and how successful are they. If you are a
freelance/independent trainer and have not yet completed the
questionnaire please visit
http://www.trainerbase.co.uk/go/sectorstate.

This year we are including purchaser responses for the first time.

Resources that have been downloaded in the past week include (of 99
total). This has gone very quiet:
- Communication Skills 6
Career Development 9
Soft Skills course material 9
Team Activity 10
Train the Trainer material 11
Management course material 22
The number of new resources being uploaded by members has dropped off
in the past month or so. Do remember that sharing resources with
the membership is a really positive way of building up your network of
contacts, some of which may lead to new contract opportunities.

To satisfy the interest in statistics about the the site, below are
some facts and figures that may be useful:
- Current total number of active members: 6,303 of which 4,367 are UK
based.
- Currently receive the newsletter: 4,994
- Currently receive offers and ads: 5,574
- Trainer searches made in the last 28 days: 697.
- We have been tracking profile visits for some considerable time and
usually reported up to 6,000 profile views each month. Recently it would
appear that search engine robots have been reconfigured and are now
increasingly indexing member profiles. In the past 28 day we have had
over 23,000 profile visits; most of these are unknown visitors (search
engine robots). We will look into analysing these figures in more depth
and attempt to determine which are human, which are robots and which are
members. Suffice to say; if you are keen to get your name indexed on the
Internet; having a profile on TrainerBase must be one of the better ways
of doing it.
- Number of new member types in the past 28 days;
- Basic user (potential purchaser) 12
- Supplier 4
- Trainer 71
- Management Development, Finance and Accounting, Leadership, Customer
services skills and Accelerated Learning are the top searched for subject in
the past 28 days. A total of 134 different subjects were searched for.
- A cursory review of the Work Function indicated that approximately
40% of active members has indicated their function. Of these 20%
indicate a purchasing function, 64% indicating they are independent
trainers with no purchasing function.
TrainerBase has started a major marketing
campaign to raise the profile of CLP amongst the 1,000+ purchasers listed as
wanting to be kept up to date with the Association. If you would like to be
part of the campaign please sign up to the CLP accreditation.
