The Trainers' Picnic

 

Arrangements are well underway for the Trainers Picnic at the Cotswold Conference Centre on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd March.

 

Hot topics requested so far are as follows:

  • TrainerBase latest (what benefits the Association is providing members).
  • Drama in the Learning Environment (the use of theatre as a learning enabler).
  • Sales Presentations (getting the pitch right to purchasers).
  • Latest thinking (wiki's, blog's and tubes, will they replace Face to Face).
  • Networking (how to work a room of potential clients).
  • Profiles matter (how to get seen on TrainerBase).

We are actively seeking speakers for these sessions and will keep everyone up to date with progress. The above sessions exclude possible "session sponsors"; organisations that would like to showcase their products at the event (and on the site and other media). If you have a product that would benefit from being positioned at this event please get in touch with Barry Llewellyn.

 

Bookings are being made via the Shop. Do book early as we expect this event to sell out (we are teaming up with a media partner in March which will give us a significant profile).

Opportunities

The part of 2009 has seen a significant increase in the number of opportunities being posted on to the site; averaging one per day. In particular we have seen an increase in opportunities either for work abroad (Middle East) and as far a field as China, or for work in the UK for foreign clients. Is this evidence that some parts of the world are not being affected by the current economic climate?

Please do be aware that some opportunities are posted and then removed before they appear in the weekly update. It is advisable to check the site periodically as I do not always send out alerts. When considering applying for an opportunity, members should check the requirements including; Subject, Sector Skills and Level Experience. If you do not match the requirement you should not apply for the opportunity, this practice is becoming very unpopular amongst purchasers and other trainers.

A question for purchasers of training.

What will give you confidence that the freelance trainer you are considering engaging will provide a return on investment or expectation?

 

The TrainerBase Standard

The TrainerBase Standard is the first ‘occupational’ standard specifically developed to measure the full range of competence and behaviours expected of an independent learning and development practitioner. Purchasers have commented “This is long overdue”.
